The Gulf Shores Fire Beach Bash Competition will take place on the beautiful sands of Gulf Shores, Alabama. All obstacles will be set up on the beach, adding an extra challenge with the sand. Each participant must navigate through the following obstacles:

Team Course- 30 Teams Max

Individual Course- 30 Individuals Max with a 7-minute time limit- ***no seeding

Door Forced Entry: Participants in the Forced Entry challenge simulate the critical task of breaching a locked or secured entry point during firefighting operations. Using specialized tools and techniques, competitors must demonstrate speed, precision, and strength as they force their way through a designated entryway obstacle.

Charged Hose Pull: In the Charged Hose Pull challenge, firefighters experience the physical demands of maneuvering a fully pressurized fire hose. Competitors must swiftly and efficiently pull the charged hose along a specified course, testing their strength, coordination, and endurance under pressure.

Kaiser Sled: The Kaiser Sled challenge requires participants to drag a weighted sled across a set distance. This exercise replicates the strenuous task of moving heavy equipment or debris during emergency response situations. Competitors must showcase their power and stamina as they navigate the sandy terrain while pulling the Kaiser Sled to the finish line.

Dummy Drag: During the Dummy Drag challenge, firefighters simulate the rescue of an incapacitated victim by dragging a life-sized dummy across the course. This challenge emphasizes teamwork, strength, and determination as participants navigate through obstacles and rough terrain to safely transport the dummy to safety.

Serpentine Sprint- condo pack: During the Serpentine Sprint, participants face a thrilling and dynamic race where agility, speed, and strategy are key. Contestants must navigate a winding, serpentine course filled with sharp turns and challenging obstacles. This event emphasizes quick thinking, precise movements, and endurance as participants sprint through the twists and turns, maintaining their pace and composure to reach the finish line.

These challenges not only highlight the physical demands of firefighting but also underscore the importance of skill, teamwork, and readiness in responding to emergencies.

Each participant will be required to wear full structural firefighting gear, including boots, gloves, air packs, helmets, and masks.

Teams will compete in a seeding round on Friday to determine their start times for the main competition on Saturday. The order of competition on Saturday will be based on Friday’s results, with the fastest teams from Friday going last on Saturday and the slowest going first.

For the team competition:

• The first team member completes the first obstacle, then tags the next team member in the staging zone.
• This process continues until the final team member crosses the finish line.

There will be 2 courses set up side by side and 2 teams/individuals will be competing at the same time with separate scoring for each course. Each team/individual is racing for their best time and not against the team/individual on the course next to them.

• Each participant gets one run through the course to record their best time.
• In the event of a tie for an overall or award placement, the tied teams will run the course again to determine the winner.

At the Gulf Shores Fire Beach Bash Competition, timing is crucial, with each participant’s run manually recorded and verified using two times. This ensures accuracy and fairness throughout the event.

Team and individual check-in is scheduled for Friday, October 4th, from 5-8 pm at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, AL. At check-in, participants will receive their team packets, shirts, and event information. Food and drinks will be available for purchase for paid participants, and guests are welcome to join.

Team Seeding Round

The seeding round for the Team Competition will also take place on Friday night. Each team is guaranteed at least two runs on the course to determine their placement for the main competition day.

• In the event of light rain or off-and-on rain, the event will proceed as scheduled on October 4.
• If there is lightning or predicted storms all day on October 4, the event will be postponed to a TBD date.
• If the entire weekend is affected by inclement weather and cannot be rescheduled, there will not be another makeup date. Teams will be offered a discounted entry into next year’s event.
• The check-in party and distribution of participant goodies will proceed as scheduled, regardless of weather conditions.

A firefighter challenge is a high-intensity competition for firefighters to promote health and wellness and bring awareness to the profession.

Is this event family-friendly?

Yes! We want to get the kids involved and make this a family weekend at the beach! Inside The Hangout, there will be a challenge course set up for kids, with miniature versions of what the Firefighters are doing on the beach.
