October 14, 2013 – Gulf Shores, AL – Held annually on the white sands of the Alabama coastline in the heart of the Gulf Coast, this year’s Oyster Cook-off will bring together celebrity chefs from across the U.S. as well as a long list of well-known Gulf coast restaurateurs. Set for Saturday, Nov. 9, the event is presented by Alabama Gulf Seafood and hosted by The Hangout.
“We are taking the Oyster Cook-off to a whole new level this year to make it a premier, national event,” said event organizer and owner of The Hangout Shaul Zislin. “This event has developed a name for itself in the culinary community over the last five years, and we have been able to take that reputation and use it to recruit some of the best chefs in the country to come cook the Gulf’s finest treasures, oysters, this November.”
In addition to competing for a chance to win combined total prizes of $10,000, chefs will make their original oyster recipes available to food fanatics and oyster connoisseurs who attend the cook-off. Entry is free, and tasting tickets will be sold for $2 each or $30 for a book of 20 tickets. The Hangout will provide fresh Alabama Gulf Seafood oysters to the chefs for the competition and tastings.
